BIOMET 3i ABUTMENTS
External hex
Fig. 1
Titanium abutments for externally hexed implants are titanium nitride
plated (GingiHue®) to negate a dark show through of the abutment
under thin biotype tissue. Straight abutments are machined with a hexagonal
implant/abutment interface (indexing feature) and a non sloping
collar in two possible heights of 2mm and 4mm (Fig.1). Each collar height is
produced with a choice of three emergence profiles of 5mm, 6mm and 7.5mm (Fig.2).
3.4mm platform abutments (micro mini) are only available with a single
emergence profile of 3.8mm. Emergence profiles coordinate with available
EP® (Emergence Profile) healing abutments
Fig. 2
Angled titanium abutments are machined with a 15 degree angle (Fig.3) and a
duodegon (double hex) implant/abutment interface, affording 12 different
positions of the abutment on the implant. Collar heights and emergence
profiles of angled abutments mirror straight titanium abutment options.
Final screws are not included with titanium abutments and need to be
purchased separately.
Fig. 3
Zirconia abutments (ZiReal®) have a bonded,
hexagonal metal indexing feature (implant/abutment interface) and
are machined with a 4mm collar height (Fig.3). Three different emergence
profiles of 5mm, 6mm and 7.5mm are available. Zirconia abutments are
only produced for 4.1mm and 5.0mm platform diameters. Final screws are
included with each zirconia abutment, as well as lab screws to make a
complete kit. The final and lab screws included are specific to the
zirconia abutment.
UCLA abutments (cast on) are made of a machined gold
implant/abutment interface and a plastic cylinder processed to the gold
interface. Engaging (hexed) and non engaging (non hexed) versions are
offered for three (4.1, 5.0, 6.0) of the four implant platform diameters.
3.4mm (micro mini) platform diameter UCLA's are only available as a indexed version.
Certain® internal hex
Fig. 4
4.1, 5.0 and 6.0mm platform (implant/abutment interface diameter)
Certain® implants are machined with a double indexing feature
consisting of a internal hexagon inside the implant in the coronal portion
and a duodegon (double hexagon) deeper inside the implant while 3.4mm
platform implant are machined with a duodegon only. Abutments engage
only one of these two indexing features based on the style of abutment
(straight, pre angled). The indexing feature of 5.0 and 6.0mm
platform implants are machined to the same dimension regardless of
platform diameter. This attribute enables platform switching within
the aforementioned platform diameters. 3.4mm and 4.1mm platform implants
can not platform switch.

A secondary feature called QuickSeat® (Fig.4) gives the clinician
tactile and audible feedback when seating the abutment in the patient to
verify complete seating. The QuickSeat® feature consists of delicate
prongs machined in to the most "apical" portion of the abutment. These
prongs should be deactivated during the laboratory phase and activated just
before installing the abutment in to the patient with a special
QuickSeat® tool.

GingiHue® Titanium abutments for internally hexed implants
are titanium nitride plated to negate a dark show through of the abutment
under thin biotype tissue. All platform diameter straight abutments
are machined with a hexagonal implant/abutment interface. 4.1, 5.0 and
6.0mm platform abutments engage only the primary ("coronal") internal
hexagon, affording six different positions. 3.4mm platform abutments
engage the duodegon of the implant, affording 12 possible seating positions.
All GingiHue® abutments are produced with a non sloping collar in two
possible heights of 2 and 4mm (Fig.5). Each collar height is designed with a choice
of three emergence profiles of 5mm, 6mm and 7.5mm (Fig.6). 3.4mm platform abutments
are only available with a single emergence profile of 3.8mm.
Emergence profiles coordinate with available

Angled GingiHue® titanium abutments are machined with a 15 degree angle
(Fig.7, right).
4.1, 5.0 and 6.0mm abutments engage the secondary indexing feature (duodegon),
affording 12 different positions of the abutment on the implant. 3.4mm
platform implants can also be positioned 12 different ways. Collar heights
and emergence profiles of angled abutments mirror straight titanium
abutment options. All abutments are color coded at the implant/abutment
interface for platform diameter identification purple (3.4), blue (4.1),
yellow (5.0) and green (6.0) Final screws are not included with titanium
abutments and need to be purchased separately.

Provide® abutments are intended to be delivered by the surgeon,
sparing the restoring dentist from having to take open or closed tray
fixture level impressions. Instead, abutment level impressions are taken
with abutment specific plastic impression copings. Only straight Provide®
abutments are offered. Abutments are machined in three collar heights of 1,
2 and 3mm (Fig.8). Emergence profiles are divided in to two groups of 4.8mm for
4.1mm implant/abutment connections and 6.5mm for 5mm and 6mm implant/abutment
interfaces.
Fig. 9
The abutment height itself is produced in two heights of 4 and
5.5mm (Fig.9). Both abutment heights are color coded according to the abutment height
and abutment/implant connection diameter. Yellow indicates a abutment height
of 4mm and silver (no color) indicates a abutment height of 5.5mm for the
4.1mm implant/abutment interface diameter. Green connotates a 4mm abutment
height and brown signals a 5.5mm abutment height for both 5mm and 6mm
implant/abutment connection diameters. Implant/abutment interfaces are color
coded for platform identification blue (4.1mm), yellow (5mm) and green (6mm).
Provide® abutments are not offered for 3.4mm implant/abutment platform
interfaces.
Fig. 10
Zirconia abutments (ZiReal®) have a bonded, hexagonal metal indexing
feature (implant/abutment interface) and are machined with a 4mm collar
height (Fig.10). Three different emergence profiles of 5mm, 6mm and 7.5mm are
available. Zirconia abutments are only produced for 4.1mm and 5.0mm
platform diameters. Final screws are included with each zirconia abutment,
as well as lab screws to make a complete kit. The final and lab screws
included are specific to the zirconia abutment.

UCLA abutments (cast on) are made of a machined gold implant/abutment
interface and a plastic cylinder processed to the gold interface. Engaging
(hexed, Fig.11, left) and non engaging (non hexed, Fig.11, right) versions are offered for all four
implant platform diameters. Non indexed UCLA's are packaged with a special
final screw. Indexed UCLA abutments require the purchase of the final screw
in addition to the abutment.
