BIOMET 3i HEALING ABUTMENTS
External hex healing abutments
Fig. 1
EP® one piece healing abutments combine the
screw and abutment body as a monoblock for less cumbersome handling.
Each abutment is marked on top with three numbers. Two numbers printed
like a fraction, indicate the emergence profile and implant/abutment
platform diameter whereby the numerator expresses the emergence profile
in millimeter and the denominator indicates the implant/abutment platform
diameter in millimeter. The large print number denotes the height of the
healing abutment in millimeters.
Fig. 2
3.4mm platform healing abutments are produced with a single
emergence profile of 3.8mm in four heights of 2, 3, 4 and 6mm. 4.1mm
platform healing abutments are offered in five (2, 3, 4, 6, 8mm)
different heights and four (4.1, 5.0, 6.0, 7.5mm) emergence profiles
each. 5.0mm platform healing abutments are available in three
(5.6, 6.0, 7.5mm) emergence profiles (Fig.1) and also five heights of 2, 3, 4,
6 and 8mm (Fig.2). 6.0 platform healing abutments are machined with the same
height configuration as 5.0 platform healing abutments in two (6.8, 7.5mm)
emergence profiles. A 0.048' (1.25mm) hex driver is required to
service these abutments.
Fig. 3
EP® two piece healing abutments are made of two
components, the fixation screw and the healing abutment body (Fig.3). The only
identification markers are lines printed on top of the healing abutment
body and only indicate the abutment height. No identification markers to
indicate the platform diameter or emergence profile are present.
3.4mm platform healing abutments are produced with two emergence profiles
of 3.8mm and 5.0mm in three heights of 3, 4 and 6mm. 4.1mm platform healing
abutments are offered in four (3, 4, 6, 8mm) different heights and three
(5.0, 6.0, 7.5mm) emergence profiles each. 5.0mm platform healing
abutments are available in three (5.6, 6.0, 7.5mm) emergence profiles and
four heights of 3, 4, 6 and 8mm. 6.0 platform healing abutments are
machined with the same height configuration as 5.0 platform healing
abutments in two emergence profiles (6.8, 7.5mm). A 0.048' (1.25mm) hex
driver is required to service these abutments.
Fig. 4
Encode® healing abutments are made of two
components, the fixation screw and the healing abutment body. These
abutments serve a dual purpose of healing abutment and "impression coping".
Intended to be impressed while in place, eliminating a separate fixture
level impression altogether and leaving the abutment in place after
impression taking. Utilizing these abutments as a impression coping is
technique sensitive. The abutments have to protrude at least 1mm from the
tissue and the full arch impression has to be pristine, no voids or
distortion around the abutment to be successful. Impressions may be taken
traditionally with impression material or with intraoral scanners for a
digital impression. Special markings machined in to the healing abutment
body (Fig.4) indicate the implant/abutment interface (platform) diameter, emergence
profile, healing abutment height and indexing feature orientation.
All Encode® healing abutments are produced in four heights of 3, 4,
6 and 8mm, regardless of platform and diameter. 3.4mm platform healing
abutments are available in two emergence profiles of 3.8mm and 5.0mm.
4.1mm platform diameters abutments are offered in four (4.1, 5.0, 6.0, 7.5mm)
different emergence profiles each. 5.0mm platform healing abutments are
available in three (5.6, 6.0, 7.5mm) emergence profiles and. 6.0 platform
healing abutments are machined with two emergence profiles of 6.8 and
7.5mm. A 0.048' (1.25mm) hex driver is required to service these abutments.

EP® one piece healing abutments combine the screw
and abutment body as a monoblock for less cumbersome handling. The screw
portion of the abutments is color coded in compliance with the platform
identification scheme (purple 3.4mm, blue 4.1mm, yellow 5.0mm, green
6.0mm). Each abutment is marked on top with three numbers. Two numbers
printed like a fraction, indicate the emergence profile and implant/abutment
platform diameter whereby the numerator expresses the emergence profile

(4.1, 5.0, 6.0, 7.5mm) emergence profiles each. 5.0mm platform healing

required to service these abutments.
