BioHorizons® ABUTMENTS

1. External hex implants

Titanium abutments are color coded at the implant/abutment interface surface according to the platform diameter (yellow 3.7mm, green 4.2mm, blue 5.2mm and purple 6.2mm) for identification purposes and each abutment is sold with a 0.050 (1.25mm) hex screw. The 3inOne abutment (Fig.1, top left) supplied with each implant can be utilized as a final abutment. Esthetic straight, esthetic angled (Fig.1, bottom ) and the 3inOne abutments have a gold colored titanium nitride coating to lessen the chance of a dark shadow under thin tissue. A sloping collar design is machined in to both esthetic abutments whereby the preangled abutment is angled at 15 degrees. The angulation is machined in to the abutment in relation to the flat side of the indexing feature (hex).

Zirconia abutments (Fig.1,top right) are available for all four implant diameters as a straight, hexed version only. Produced through and through in zirconia with a specific zirconia abutment screw.

UCLA (cast on) abutments are offered in engaging and  non engaging versions as a gold and Delrin® combination (Fig.2, left) and through and through plastic (Fig.2, right, Delrin®).

Final abutment screws are included as a kit with each abutment but not interchangeable from platform to platform diameter. The screw for 3.7mm diameter platform implants is specific to 3.7mm diameter platform implants and easily identifiable through a yellow color coating.

Abutment for Screw abutments serve as intermediary abutments for splinted, screw retained restorations and substructures. Theses abutments may be utilized in situations with excessive tissue height (≥2mm) above implants or to correct a unfavorable final screw access path. The abutments are color coded for platform diameter identification yellow (3.5mm) green (4.1mm) and blue (5.0mm). Special UCLA abutments (discussed below) or CAD CAM substructures are required for Abutment for Screw abutments. Impression copings for already installed Abutment for Screw abutments are also Abutment for Screw specific.

Straight Abutment for Screw abutments (Fig.3) are non indexed and machined as a mono block, integrating the screw and abutment in to a single entity. 3.5, 4.1 and 5.0mm platform abutments are offered in two collar heights of 3.5 and 4.5mm. No straight Abutment for Screw abutments are offerd for 6.0mm platform diameter implants.

Angled Abutment for Screw abutments are machined with a implant/abutment indexing feature (hexagon) and the angle of correction is away from one of the flat sides of the indexing hexagon. The abutments are of considerable height (5mm). This should be taken in to account during the treatment planning and restorative phase. 3.5mm platform angled Abutment for Screw abutments are available with a 17 degree angle of correction while 4.1mm platform abutments are offered in two angulations of 15 and 25 degrees. 5.0mm platform abutments are machined with a correction of 15 degrees only. No angled Abutment for Screw abutments are offerd for 6.0mm platform diameter implants.

UCLA's (Fig.4 for Abutment for Screw abutments are made of a gold interface with a acetyl (Delrin® or Pomalux®) tube processed to the gold interface for cast on procedures. One size fits all Abutment for Screw abutments. These UCLA's are packaged with a specialized fixation screw (catalog # PXABS) and torqued to 30Ncm.

2. Tapered internal, Internal

The 3inOne abutment (Fig.5, top left) supplied with most implants can be used as a final abutment. A sloping collar design is machined in to both esthetic abutments whereby the preangled abutment is angled at 15 degrees. Simple-solution abutments are available for both implant geometries (Internal, Tapered internal), see section 4 below.

Zirconia abutments (Fig.1, top right) are offered as a straight, hexed version for all three implant diameters. Produced through and through in zirconia with same final screw as titanium abutments.

3. Single-stage implants

Simple-solution abutments(Fig.10, top) are offered in two different abutment heights (see section 4 below) as a kit including the abutment, screw and burnout copings as well as a la carte. The preangled abutment (Fig.10, bottom) is angled at 20 degrees and angled in relation to the flat side of the indexing feature (hex).

Final abutment screws are included as a kit with each abutment and interchangeable within all three platform diameters.

4. Simple solution

Simple solution abutments were primarily designed for the Single-stage implant system but also available for both internally hexed implant systems (Internal and Tapered internal). Each implant system has their own specific line of Simple-solution abutments.

Single-stage Simple-solution abutments (Fig.12) are offered in two abutment heights (4mm and 5.5mm) for all three platform diameters. The finish line (margin) of the cementable restoration over Simple solution abutments is designed to be the shoulder of the Single-stage implant and not the Simple solution abutment.

Internal and Tapered internal Simple-solution abutments (Fig.13) are available in two abutment heights (4mm, 5.5mm) and a choice of three collar heights (0.8mm, 1.8mm, 2.8mm). The collar of the abutment is offered as a polished version or treated with the Laser-Lok® surface. Simple-solution abutments are sold as kits including the abutment, screw, healing cap, impression coping, analog and burn out copings for single and bridge restorations or a la carte.

All abutments are color coded according to platform diameter (yellow 3.5mm, green 4.5mm and blue 5.7mm). Abutment screws are included as a kit with each abutment and interchangeable within all three platform diameters.

5. Laser-Lok 3.0

Titanium esthetic straight and esthetic angled abutments (Fig.14) have a gold colored titanium nitride coating to lessen the chance of a dark shadow under thin tissue. A sloping collar design is machined in to both esthetic abutments whereby the preangled abutment is angled at 15 degrees. The angulation is machined in relation to the flat side of the indexing feature (hex). Two collar heights (1mm and 3mm) for straight esthetic abutments are available. The collar height is measured at the lowest point of the sloping collar and indexed to the flat side of the indexing feature (hex).
