BioHorizons® IMPLANTS

1. External hex

External hex implants are machined out of grade 5 titanium, offered with a resorbable blast textured (RBT) or hydroxylapatite (HA) coating. With the exception of 3.5mm body diameter implants which are only available with the RBT surface texture. A machined collar of 0.5mm separates the platform from the textured body area. The body of the implant is machined with a parallel geometry and square tread pattern, tread depth increases with the implant body diameter. A tapered apex provides more freedom when placing the implant at an angle.

Four implant body diameters (Fig.1) of 3.5mm, 4.0mm, 5.0mm, 6.0mm are produced for this implant system in five lengths (Fig.2) of 7, 9, 10.5, 12 and 15mm. Platform diameters are 0.2mm wider than the body diameter. The implant is packaged with a cover screw and already mounted on a 3 inOne abutment which serves as the implant mount for delivery, indirect (closed tray) impression coping and final abutment. All components are color coded (3.5mm, yellow), (4.0mm, green), (5.0mm, blue) and (6.0mm, purple).

2. Internal

Internal hex implants are machined with a parallel geometry, a square tread pattern and tapered apex out of grade 5 titanium. Available with a choice of two surface textures regardless of body diameter size. Resorbable blast textured (RBT) or a hydroxylapatite (HA) coating. Laser-Lok® micron sized channels at the implant neck are an option for RBT surface implants only. A machined collar of 0.5mm separates the platform from the textured body area.

Four implant body diameters (Fig.3) of 3.5, 4.0, 5.0, and 6.0mm are produced for this system with three possible implant/abutment interface platform diameters. 3.5mm body diameter implants have a 3.5mm platform diameter and 4.0mm body diameter implants have a 4.5mm platform diameter. 5.0mm and 6.0mm body diameter implants share the same 5.7mm platform diameter dimension. All components are color coded according to the platform diameter (3.5mm, yellow), (4.5mm, green) and (5.7mm, blue). The four body diameters are offered in four lengths (Fig.4) of 9mm, 10.5mm, 12mm and 15mm. Implants is packaged with a cover screw and already mounted on a 3 inOne abutment which serves as the implant mount for delivery, indirect (closed tray) impression coping and final abutment.

3. Tapered internal

Tapered internal hex, titanium grad 5 implants are offered with a resorbable blast textured (RBT) surface and Laser-Lok® micron sized channels at the implant neck. A machined collar of 0.3mm separates the platform from the textured body area. The tapered body geometry and a reverse buttress tread pattern are signature features of this implant design. The implant body is machined in three diameters (Fig.5) of 3.8mm, 4.6mm and 5.8mm in five lengths (Fig.6) of 7mm, 9mm, 10.5mm, 12mm and 15mm.

Corresponding implant abutment interface platform diameters are available in 3.5mm, 4.5mm and 5.7mm. Two packaging options are available from BioHorizons® for tapered internal implants. One option is packaged with a included cover screw and the implant already mounted on a 3 inOne abutment which serves as the implant mount for delivery, indirect (closed tray) impression coping and final abutment. The second option includes only the cover screw without 3 inOne fixture mount. All components are color coded according to platform diameter (3.5mm, yellow), (4.5mm, green) and (5.7mm, blue).

4. Tapered plus

Tapered plus implants are the latest addition to the BioHorizons® implant family and incorporate a platform switching feature to differentiate itself from its cousins within the BioHorizons® product offering. The grade 5 titanium alloy, reverse buttress thread, RBT surface treatment and tapered body geometry design are carried over from the Tapered internal implant product group. Three body diameters of 3.8, 4.6 and 5.8mm (Fig.7) are produced with respective platform diameters (abutment/implant interface) of 3, 3.5 and 4.5mm. This difference in diameter is leveraged to create a beveled platform (Fig.8) of 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6mm. A 1.8mm height Laser-Lok® surface treatment is carried from the abutment interface apically, covering the platform switch bevel.

The internal abutment connection of 3.5 and 4.5mm are compatible with 3.5 and 4.5mm internal platform connections within BioHorizons® internal prosthetic portfolio. 3.0mm Tapered plus platform interfaces are only compatible with Laser-Lok® 3.0 prosthetic components. All three body diameters are available in five lengths of 7.5, 9, 10.5, 12 and 15mm with the exception of 3.8mm body diameter implants. 3.8mm body diameter implants are not offered as a 7.5mm length implant.

Each Tapered plus implant is packaged with a cover screw intended for a two stage surgical protocol. Healing abutments or the popular 3inOne abutment are not part of the product packaging and need to be purchased separately.

5. Single-stage

Single-stage internal hex implants are machined with parallel body geometry and a square tread pattern out of grade 5 titanium. The surface is textured with a resorbable blast media (RBT) and optional Laser-Lok® micron sized channels at the implant neck. A machined collar of 1.8mm separates the platform from the textured body area. Four implant body diameters (Fig.9) are produced for this implant system in 3.5mm, 4.0mm, 5.0mm, and 6.0mm.

The internal hexagon implant/abutment platform diameter is machined in three diameters of 3.5, 4.5 and 5.7mm. 3.5mm platform diameters are available in two implant body diameters of 3.5 and 4.0mm while 4.5mm platform implants are produced in two implant body diameters of 4.0 and 5.0mm. The 5.7mm platform is offered in two implant body diameters of 5.0 and 6.0mm. All three platform diameter implants are machined in five lengths (Fig.10) of 7, 9, 10.5, 12 and 15mm. The implant is packaged only with a cover screw. All components are color coded according to platform diameter (3.5mm, yellow), (4.5mm, green) and (5.7mm, blue).

6. Laser-Lok® 3.0

This titanium grade 5 implant has a internal hex connection and a body and platform diameter of 3.0mm. Laser-Lok® micron sized channels at the neck of the implant body and a resorbable blast texture (RBT) surface with a parallel body geometry make this implant an option for very tight space situations. Lengths (Fig.11) of 10.5mm, 12mm and 15mm are available for this square tread pattern implant configuration. Implants are only packaged with a cover screw.

7. One-piece 3.0

The One-piece 3.0, titanium grade 5 implant has a parallel body geometry and a slight taper at the apex with a square tread pattern. Surface treatment choices are resorbable blast texture (RBT) and hydroxilapatite (HA). The implant body and abutment are machined as one unit and intended for very tight space situations. Available lengths (Fig.12) are 12mm, 15mm, and 18mm with an abutment height of 8mm each. The abutment portion is prepped intraorally after installation of the implant. No impression coping components are available for this implant design.

8. Overdenture 3.0

The Overdenture 3.0 implant has a parallel body geometry and a slight taper at the apex with a square tread pattern. Surface roughening is achieved through resorbable blast texturing (RBT) on the titanium grade 5 implant body. The implant body and ball attachment are machined as one unit. Implants are offered in lengths of 12mm, 15mm, and 18mm with a choice of 2mm (Fig.13, left side) and 4mm (Fig.13, right side) machined collars. Female attachment components are designed with a metal housing and replaceable plastic liners in four different strengths (yellow, 1.4lb., red 2.3lb., green ?lb. and white 3.3lb. No impression coping components are available for this implant design.
