Ankylos® C/X

Due to the universal implant/abutment interface there are no platform specific abutments for this system, all abutments fit any platform diameter regardless of size. The internal connection of the implant has been reengineered since the inception of the Ankylos® implant system. Older implants designated as "C" type have no indexing feature while the new design designated as "X" type features a exiguous indexing system. Abutments are either indexed (X) or non indexed (C). Indexed and non indexed abutments will seat properly in to indexed implants (Fig.1, Ankylos® X) but indexed abutments will not seat in to non indexed implants (Ankylos® C) .

Non indexed abutments require a seating index (Fig.2) to transfer the abutment position from the master model to the patient. Abutment material ranges from titanium to through and through zirconia abutments. The abutment fixation screw is designed with a permanently trapped feature and can not be replaced in case of screw failure. Abutments are machined in three configurations; standard, regular and balance.

No UCLA (cast on abutment) is offered for any Ankylos® C/X implant due to engineering limitations. This shortcoming may be overcome by utilizing CAD CAM technology through Atlantis™ (Astra Tech).

Non indexed abutments (Ankylos® C)

Standard titanium abutments are intended for the abutment level impression technique and are produced with four variables; abutment diameter (Fig.3, left, 3.3mm "A", 4.5mm "B"), collar height (1.5, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0mm), abutment height (Fig.3, middle, 4mm, 6mm) and angulation (Fig.3, right, 0°, 15°). Straight abutments are machined as a unibody (screw and abutment are one singular piece) while angled abutments are manufactured as a two piece component with a permanently trapped screw.

Regular titanium abutments are produced in four gingival collar heights (Fig.4, top row, 0.75, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5mm) with six different degrees of angulation (Fig.4, bottom row, 0, 7.5, 15, 22.5, 30, 37.5). Each titanium abutment has a screw hole tapped in to the intended lingual/palatal wall of the abutment for possible horizontal screw fixation of the definitive restoration.

Balance titanium abutments are machined with a sloping collar design in two collar heights of 1.5 and 3mm. The collar height is measured from the lowest point of the slope. Each abutment is produced with two emergence profile diameters of 5.5 (Fig.5, left, small) and 7.0mm (Fig.5, right, large) as a straight and angled (Fig.5, 15°) version. The angle of the angled abutment is designed away from the lowest point of the sloping collar.

Zirconia abutments are offered in two shades (B1 and A2), two emergence profiles (Fig.6, left, 5.5 small and 7mm large, Fig.6, right), two gingival cuff heights (1.5, 3.0mm) in straight or angled (Fig.6, 15°) configurations. No porcelain can be baked on to the zirconia abutments due to the "trapped" retaining screw design. Modification (reduction) is only recommended for the larger (7.0mm) emergence profile zirconia abutment by the manufacturer.

Indexed abutments (Ankylos® X)

Regular indexed titanium abutments are produced in four gingival collar heights (Fig.7, top row, 0.75, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5mm) with six different degrees of angulation (Fig.7, bottom row, 0, 7.5, 15, 22.5, 30, 37.5). Each titanium abutment has a screw hole tapped in to the intended lingual/palatal wall of the abutment for possible horizontal screw fixation of the definitive restoration.

Frialit® plus

Titanium abutments are color coded (3.4 gray, 3.8 yellow, 4.5 blue, 5.5 red and 6.5mm green) for easy identification in regards to the platform diameter. Four collar heights (1, 2, 3 and 5mm) in straight and angled (15 degrees) configurations are offered for titanium abutments. The angle of the angled abutment is machined in relation to the flat side of the indexing feature (hex). Each titanium abutment has a screw hole tapped in to the intended lingual wall of the abutment for possible horizontal screw fixation of the definitive restoration.

Zirconia abutments are available with a bondable titanium base (CeraBase) or through and through in zirconia (Cercon). The bondable base zirconia abutment is offered only for (3.4, 3.8, 4.5 and 5.5mm) platform diameters as a esthetic version with a pre machined collar or a bulk version for copious adjustment possibility. Through and through zirconia abutments are produced in two shades (B1 and A2), two collar heights (1 and 2mm), straight and angled (15°) for two platform diameters (3.8 yellow and 4.5mm blue) only.

UCLA abutments (AuroBase, cast on) available for all five platform diameters are only offered as an indexed component. Screws (1.22mm hex) are included as a kit with each abutment for this implant system. All screws are interchangeable from implant diameter to implant diameter.

Xive® S

Titanium abutments are color coded (3.0 brown, 3.4 gray, 3.8 yellow, 4.5 blue and 5.5mm red) for easy identification in regards to the platform diameter. Four collar heights (1, 2, 3 and 5mm) in straight and angled (15 degrees) configurations are offered for titanium abutments. The angle of the angled abutment is machined in relation to the flat side of the indexing feature (hex). Each titanium abutment has a screw hole tapped in to the intended lingual wall of the abutment for possible horizontal screw fixation of the definitive restoration.

Xive® TG

Titanium abutments are not color coded and seat on any TG implant diameter (3.4 gray, 3.8 yellow and 4.5 blue). Machined straight and angled (15 degrees) with the angle of the angled abutment machined in relation to the flat side of the indexing feature (square). Each titanium abutment has a screw hole tapped in to the intended lingual wall of the abutment for possible horizontal screw fixation of the definitive restoration.

UCLA's (AuroBase, cast on) abutments are only offered as an indexed component. No zirconia abutments are available for this system. All screws (1.22mm hex and slot combination) are interchangeable from implant diameter to implant diameter and need to be purchased separately.
