Indirect impression copings designed for the closed tray impression technique are produced in two emergence profiles for NP platform implants (Fig.1) and three emergence profiles for RP implants (Fig.2). NP impression copings are produced in one height of 13mm while RP impression copings are available in two heights of 13m (Fig.2, top row)and a low profile version (Fig.2, bottom row) of 9mm.

offered in three emergence profiles of 3.6, 5.0 and 6.0mm Early production versions were produced without color coding for identification but Nobel Biocare™ has started to color code some of the impression copings. The NP (3.5mm) platform would be represented through the color fuchsia and RP/WP (4.3/4.9mm) impression copings will be yellow in color. A Unigrip™ driver may be used to service the fixation screw for impression copings.

NP (3.5mm platform) impression copings are machined with a choice of a 3.5 (Fig.4, left) and a 4.5mm emergence profile while RP (4.1mm platform) impression copings are offered with a choice of 4mm (Fig.4, middle) and 5mm emergence profiles. WP (5.0mm platform) impression copings are available with a emergence profile of 5mm (Fig.4, right) and 6mm. The fixation screw of the impression coping has a tool less design and is operated by hand. No color coding is provided for platform diameter or emergence profile identification.

Low profile and regular profile impression copings are produced in two emergence profiles for each of the four implant/abutment platforms. Both low and regular profile impression copings share the same platform diameter specific emergence profiles. The color coding follows the prevailing color identification scheme and the fixation screw can be operated by hand or with a Unigrip™ driver.

Press fit plastic, engaging impression copings are designed to be employed without a fixation screw. These impression copings engage the implants through friction fit only and are envisioned to be picked up with a closed tray impression technique. Due to the inherent radio lucency of the plastic material, proper seating of the impression coping can not be verified with a periapical x-ray. The color coding follows the prevailing color identification scheme and two emergence profiles for each of the four implant/abutment platforms are offered.

Snappy™ Abutment

Abutment level impressions are carried out with snap on plastic impression copings specially designed for Snappy™ abutments. Snappy™ abutments are produced for all three (NobelActive™, Brånemark System™, Rplace type) Nobel Biocare™ implant systems. Abutments are machined in two heights of 4mm and 5.5mm, indicated by the number 4 or 5 printed on the abutment. Snappy™ impression copings are therefore available in two corresponding heights and are not compatible with each other. Each implant/abutment platform diameter specific impression coping is color coded to the implant systems

color scheme (Fig.11) and offered in four colors (fuchsia, yellow, blue, green). The impression copings are interchangeable from implant system to implant system as long as the abutment height (4, 5.5mm) and platform diameter are matched*. The screw access hole of the abutment should not be obturated with any material because the impression coping engages the inside (Fig.12) aspect of the abutment as well as the outside of the abutment.

*Authors note: NP and RP Snappy™ abutments are machined with the same dimension diameter at the margin, making NP and RP impression copings interchangeable as long as the abutment height (4, 5.5mm) is coordinated.
