Straumann® HEALING ABUTMENTS

Tissue level and tapered effect implant

All healing abutments employ the same Torx (SCS) driver tip regardless of the implant/abutment platform diameter, except one NN healing abutment catalog # 048.374, which uses a hex driver.
Narrow neck (NN) healing abutments (Fig.2, top row) are produced in three versions, one plastic (3.4mm height), one metal (3.4mm height) and a low profile (1.8mm) metal abutment.
Regular neck (RN) healing abutments (Fig.1) are offered in five configurations. Three straight walled metal abutments in heights of 2mm, 3mm and 4.5mm. Two metal abutments with a bevel machined on one side of the body. This bevel is intended to aide in proper tissue contour development during the healing phase and should be changed to

straight walled healing abutment after about three weeks. One of the beveled abutments has a height of 2mm and the other has a height of 3.5mm.
Wide neck (WN) healing abutments (Fig.2, middle and bottom row) are available in three straight walled heights of 2mm, 3mm and 4.5mm. One beveled abutment with a 2mm height to effect a more favorable tissue contour during the initial healing period.

Nine different healing abutments are manufactured for narrow connection (NC) implant/abutment platform diameter implants. Two cone shaped emergence profiles of 3.6mm (Fig.3 top row) and 4.8mm (Fig.3 bottom row)in three heights (2, 3.5, 5mm) each. Two bottle neck geometry abutments (Fig.4) in heights of 3.5mm and 5mm. The narrow end of the bottle neck is positioned towards the gingival crest and results in a under dimensioned emergence profile of the soft tissue.

This feature is intended to aide in the creation of a papilla at the time of final abutment installation. The larger emergence profile of the final abutment will displace the soft tissue in all directions and may necessitate a releasing incision of the tissue at the time of delivery.

One acrylic body healing abutment with a diameter of 5mm to create a custom emergence profile is also part of the healing abutment offering from Straumann®. All NC abutments are color coded yellow in compliance with the platform identification color scheme of bone level implants. The same Torx (SCS) driver may be utilized for all platform diameter components.

The narrow end of the bottle neck is positioned towards the gingival crest and results in a under dimensioned emergence profile of the soft tissue.
